Elena Walch, Trentino - Alto Adige
A rich gold colour, subtle new oak vanilla, coconut and limes and fine Chardonnay fruit on the nose. Pure and concentrated palate with impressive mineral drive and a firm backbone of acidity, to support the creamy texture, and notes of nutty brioche. Elena says ‘unmistakeably South Tyrolean’, but I would say mistakeably Chassagne Montrachet…
The Elena Walch estate
One of the torch-bearing wine producers in Alto-Adige, Elena Walch collected tre bicchieri awards for both red and white wines in 2007, and her Gewurztraminer, Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay continue to set high standards for the region. The Estate also has a wonderful restaurant in the heart of its Castel Ringberg vineyard, which is as good a place as any to taste the wines alongside local delicacies.
