Elena Walch, Trentino - Alto Adige
A rare indigenous varietal from Alto Adige and drinking excellently now. The ripe dark fruits of this hot vintage are complemented by spicy tobacco, cloves, damp earth and boot polish on the nose. The palate is both sweet and savoury with herbaceous notes, supported by subtle French oak. Harmonious, long and exotic, a wine to get the mind as well as the tastebuds going
The Elena Walch estate
One of the torch-bearing wine producers in Alto-Adige, Elena Walch collected tre bicchieri awards for both red and white wines in 2007, and her Gewurztraminer, Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay continue to set high standards for the region. The Estate also has a wonderful restaurant in the heart of its Castel Ringberg vineyard, which is as good a place as any to taste the wines alongside local delicacies.
