Mirabile, Sicilia
Sicily's most important native varietal, often thought to share a common ancestry with Syrah; and with its intensely dark colour, and soft ripe black fruit, white pepper and woodsmoke aromas and flavours, the comparison is not elusive.
The Mirabile estate
Situated near Menfi, in the north-west of Sicily but on the southern coast, the almost painfully picturesque Mirabile estate benefits from a relatively moderate climate for the island, tempered by the cooling sea breeze which helps the wines retain their acidity and aromatic freshness.
