Rocca di Frassinello, Tuscany
Le Sughere is the Estate's second wine, and is made from 50% Sangioveto with equal percentages of Merlot and Cabernet. The wine is barriqued (50% new) and takes on an altogether richer, spicier complexity. This is drinking well now but will certainly age.

A recent joint venture in the Maremma between the Castellare Estate (above) and Domaines Barons de Rothschild which is aready bearing fruit. Situated between Bolgheri (the seat of the Super-Tuscan revolution) and Scansano, the region benefits from a similarly warm climate but has soils more akin to Montalcino. The Estate utilises the Rothschild expertise with French varietals - Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot in particular, and the team at Castellare's knowledge of the region and facility cultivating top quality Sangioveto to create their own Super-Tuscan range. These are early days for this estate but it is already making waves with its first vintages...
